Dublin Civil Defence Crews Rescue Two [13/Jan/10]

At approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday the 12th of January, a call was received by Dublin Civil Defence that there were two males stranded in a 4x4 Land Rover on the Brittas to Sallygap Road. The men had attepted the journey but as the vehicle could not make it in the 6ft snowdrifts they attempted to proceed on foot, losing their shoes in the process. The two men then decided to return to the vehicle and called for help on a mobile phone.

Dublin Civil Defence crews, assisted by two members from the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team responded in the Hagglund BV206, pictured here:

The rescue crews were able to locate the men and as they got close told them to switch on the lights in the Land Rover as it was difficult to spot in the snow.
The men were safely removed from the vehicle and brought to safety.
