Several units of the Auxiliary Fire Service are out today supplying water to places in need.
Units from Rathfarnham travelled to Cadburys factory in Coolock, while units from Headquarters in Wolfe Tone Quay travelled to Bow Street in the inner city to assist Capuchin Monks.
These units also went to various nursing homes throughout the day and refilled water tanks there so that the residents could have tap and shower water, bottled water was available for drinking.
AFS units from Blanchardstown, Marino and Swords will be coming online from 17:30 today and 7 members of Wicklow Civil Defence will be joining the effort.
Update 16th Jan- 10 AFS units were out today keeping water levels up in hospitals and places in need all over the capital. Swords AFS and the Dun Laoghaire Water Rescue Unit were dispatched by DFB to a flooding incident in Shankill. Many thanks to Harris Hino for assisting us with water relays by supplying a new "500 Series" water tanker to bring clean water to those in need:
Update 17th Jan- 7 AFS units were out today, along with a Civil Defence Water Tanker, Supplying water to Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Businesses. Luckily the demand has now decreased and it is hoped these facilities will be able to be self reliant again soon.
