Dublin Mountain Challenge for Barretstown

DCD provided Medical, Welfare and Rescue cover for the Dublin Mountain Challenge in aid of Barretstown. The challenge was a 42k and 24k walk across the Dublin Mountains. A hot meal was provided by our welfare team at the top of Three Rock Mountain for 800 people. In total 75 DCD Volunteers were involved and 22 vehicles.

Medal Ceremony Croke Park

Minister with Responsibility for Defence Mr . Paul Kehoe presented Long Service Medals and 2016 Commemorative Medals to Civil Defence Volunteers today in Croke Park. Congratulations to the Civil Defence Branch for organising a great event. Well done to all recipients from all Counties.

Terenure 5k and 10k

DCD provided Medical support for the Terenure 5/10k road race this morning. 1 ambluance, 1 Ambulance support and 6 medical bikes.

Officer Training Module 1

20 DCD members attended the Officer Training Module 1 today. This is the first of 3 modules as part of our Officer Training Course. Congratulations to the Officer Training Cadre for giving excellent lectures on various topics.

Rest Centre

Our sincere thanks to all members of the public that offered clothing and offers of assistance during our operation of a Rest Centre. Community Spirit alive and Well. DCD

Verdemont Fire

DCD has set up a Rest Centre for evacuees from the apartment block fire. Big Thanks to all our volunteers and volunteers from Fingal. Also to DCC staff from the Community Centre.  

Cycle against Suicide

The 14 day Cycle against Suicide finished today in Dublin Castle. Civil Defence from all Counties provided Medical Cover for the duration of the event.

Darkness into Light

DCD provided Medical support with an Ambulance and six medical bikes for Pieta House Darkness into Light in Marley Park this morning.

Cycle against Suicide

The annual Cycle against Suicide started from Swords Castle today and will travel around Ireland over the next two weeks. Civil Defence from all the Counties that the event passes through will provide Medical and Ambulance cover. DCD will provide Medical cover for the next three days and the last day from Carlow to Dublin.

Cruinniu na Casca

DCD provided Medical and Vehicle protection in the Customs House, Dublin Castle and Smithfield. We were assisted with CIvil Defence units from Laois, Westmeath, Meath and Louth. In total 87 Volunteers and 27 Vehicles assisted in the operational cover. Great to work with other Counties.

Regional Competition

Congratulations to the Dublin Team on winning the Competition in the Tara Mines County Meath Today. All the hard work paid off in competing in a very tough and well taught out scenarios. Well done to Meath CD on putting on a great Competition and well done to all that participated.
